The Bonai Shalom Sudanese Scholarship Fund (The Fund) was established in 2008. This Fund is an investment on the part of the Congregation Bonai Shalom community in the future of three young Sudanese refugee women our congregation helped resettle to Boulder.
1. The Fund may grant scholarships to help these three women to complete their educational and career goals. The educational scholarships may be awarded for expenses directly related to higher education, including tuition and fees for undergraduate college and university degrees, vocational schools, and certification programs, as well as expenses for books and other required materials. Costs for pre-requisites (like ESL, GED or high school diploma acquisition, SAT, ACT, and application fees) are also covered.
The Fund is overseen by an advisory and oversight subcommittee of the Social Action Committee and is chaired by Joan Nagel. A member of the committee is assigned to work with each applicant and monitor any funds that are distributed based on the application.
