Torah Library Project
For her bat mitzvah project two years ago, Gali Beh created a photo library of the entire Martin Small Torah, divided into each Aliya for each Parsha.
This site is a library of photos of the main Torah used at Congregation Bonai Shalom. If you are planning to read from the Torah, use this library to find the photo of your Torah reading, so that you can be prepared for what the Torah actually looks like. Seeing the photo of the actual Torah reading will help you build confidence prior to your reading, help reduce errors in reading (from difficulty reading the handwritten calligraphy), and can even help you independently find the reading (note distinguishing features in the photos, such as seams, column tops and bottoms, and indentations).
Notes:
- If you are reading from one of Bonai Shalom's other (non-primary) Torot (e.g., Maftir on Rosh Hodesh), these photos are not from the other torot.
- On each page of the photo documents, the torah portions are outlined with a blue box. Your portion begins and ends on the first and last lines of text within the blue boxes, but your first and last words are not often the first and last words of the lines. You will need to know where your portion starts and ends within a line by referring to a chumash (e.g., Etz Hayim).
How to use: Find the name of your parsha (e.g., Toldot) and open that file. Find the right set of verses in that document, and pay attention to the Triennial Cycle (all three cycles are in one document per parsha).
